For Edinburgh city breaks, the Best Western Edinburgh City Hotel, is very conveniently located in the city centre of historic Edinburgh, amid the hustle and bustle of this great capital of Scotland. This hotel provides city break guests a base from where many local places of interest can be reached on foot.
If you are looking for stage shows during your short break in Edinburgh then it is the nearest city centre hotel to the Kings Theatre just a quarter of a mile away.
About 15 Minutes walk away, Edinburgh's old Grassmarket, beneath Edinburgh Castle, has been transformed over recent years. An area with drinking houses dating back 100's of years, many of the buildings remained semi derelict until a few years ago and now house some very upmarket shops and boutiques, along with coffee shops and restaurants. You can walk to this area in just a few minutes.
From here it is a stiff climb up stairs all the way up to Edinburgh Castle - but the view across the city and a visit to the Castle is well worth the effort. Take a break here is the restaurant that has stunning views over the city to the north
Then a walk down the Royal Mile will take you to the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre, Camera Obscura, tartan and gift shops and at the end of the Mile is Scotland's new Parliament building. Across from here is Holyrood Palace, the Royal Family's Edinburgh residence. There are of course lots of other visitor attractions but this is a day in itself, and a taxi back might be the best bet!
