Edinburgh's Christmas and Edinburgh New Year, or Hogmanay as it is known in Scotland, are the city's two major festival events in winter.
New Year in Edinburgh has long been regarded as the world's centre of celebrations, with a four day extrvaganza of events, shows and of course a stunning display of fireworks from Edinburgh Castle at midnight on 31 December.
